I photograph a lot of mountains throughout the pacific northwest, but I live closest to Mt Baker and like to call it my “home mountain”. Because of this, I get a lot of people wondering why you can browse my portfolio and you’ll see I don’t have very many shots of Mt Baker. This is because I don’t particularly like photographing Mt Baker from Artist point, which is really the only easy to visit view point. All of my favorite angles require around 7-10 miles of hiking which means backpacking is pretty much the only way to shoot sunset or sunrise. This makes it much harder to see a promising weather forecast and just pop by to see if the light goes off. In addition, the flowers have been pretty lackluster around Mt Baker for the past several years. But all that finally changed this year!

I have backpacked up to this view point a few times each year for the past four years trying to get a shot with some nice flowers and decent light. I’ve actually caught some nice light during my attempts, but there have never been any good flowers. This year the flowers were amazing! They still are! If you haven’t hiked out around Baker, now is the time! So anyways, I’ve rambled on enough, but basically I’ve been trying to get this shot for a long time and all of the pieces finally come together.

As always, thanks for viewing! If you would like to see more of my work please feel free to follow me on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/ross_schram) or check out my [website](https://www.rosssvhphoto.com)

I’m getting a lot of questions about how I post process my images. I have post processing tutorials available [here](https://ross-schram-von-haupt-photography.myshopify.com/) and for the next 24 hours you can use code REDDIT for 50% off because Reddit is the best
